January Chapter Meeting

01/18/24 10:00am to 11:00am

Please join us for the following presentation on Effective Listening Skills and learn how to become a better listener in your professional and personal lives. This webinar will be led by Michael Koscielny, CEO and Founder of Born2Lead, LLC.

We are bombarded by inputs from many sources today and they are all competing for our attention. This is in many ways self-inflicted. In our attempts to “multi-task”, we really understand very little of our interactions. Listening has become a forgotten skill. It has been happening for years. In the world today we are bombarded by sights and sounds that consume our senses and the space in our conscious brain. Consider the fact that the human body sends 11 million bits per second of information to the brain for processing, yet the conscious mind seems to be able to process only 50 bits per second. In order to understand one person speaking to us, we need to process 60 bits of information per second. Can you see why a lack of focused listening is a problem?

There are great tools for effective listening. If you want to become a better listener, you will learn listening skills that you can utilize every day.

Here is a summary of the learning outcomes:

  • What is listening and how did we get to be the listeners we are today?
  • Breaking down barriers between listeners and speakers.
  • Make listening work for you, by listening to yourself and others.

SPECIAL NOTE: This meeting will be held VIA WEBINAR. The link to virtually attend this meeting will be forwarded to those who have registered closer to the meeting date.
